Private Land New Mexico Elk Hunts
Elk- Rocky Mountain
This New Mexico elk hunt takes place in the northeast corner of the state on over 200,000 private acres. Ponderosa pines, cedar and pinion trees, mountain mahogany, oak brush and gramma grass, and canyons make up the landscape. Nutritional grasses and alfalfa grow along the river bottom hay fields. Most of the terrain is accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicles, with elevation ranging from just 5,300-6,500 feet. These trophy elk hunts are extremely limited and book out far in advance. These hunts are extremely exciting, with a great opportunity at big bulls. October is when the rifle hunts take place and you can still expect some rutting and bugling activity. All hunts are spot and stalk with lots of glassing. We only take about 8-10 hunters all year in order to give everyone the best possible chance at taking a mature trophy bull. The New Mexico elk population continues to increase with more and bigger bulls each year. Historically, the average bull taken here will score 320" class with 350"+ bulls taken almost every year. The late season hunting is also phenomenal as bulls are found in their bachelor groups and it's not uncommon to find multiple shooter bulls together. With the amount of private ground and so few hunters, everyone has plenty of property to cover to ensure a big mature bull is located. On-site lodging is provided in a comfortable new hunting lodge consisting of, 7 bedrooms, 4 baths, kitchen and large living room area. Bedrooms are double occupancy with a bathroom shared by two bedrooms. There is also satellite big screen TV and internet service. This is an ideal hunt for those who can't get around like they used to as the terrain here is not very physically demanding.
