River Scouts Camp - Week 7
River Scouts (formerly Kayak Fishing Camp) ages 9 – 14 (by first day of camp session). This camp will provide two opportunities per week to go on kayak adventures, possibly even traveling as far as the Hollywood Oyster Company. The week begins with a lesson on being an honorable river scout, fishing, and crabbing. Mid-week, campers will have the chance to interact with other camps through games and by sneaking gifts to other groups without being detected. In addition to all the water activities, campers will also have the opportunity to do field games, crafts, and get wet with water games. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week a chance to make S’mores. The week ends with “Tie-Dye Friday” for a take-home memory of the week at camp and campers get to choose if they want to go fishing or crabbing from the boat launch. River Scouts Camp is offered for three weeks of our summer camp program. Both AM and PM Extended care and Drop-In Extended Care is available. Theme for Week 7: River Scouts: Otter Gifts Enjoy two days of kayaking adventures and discover treasures of the Patuxent River. Awaken your senses through awareness games like “Otter Steals Fish” and blindfold activities. Learn how to be an honorable scout and sneak gifts to other groups undetected using stealth and camouflage. Bonus: Learn about otters through stories and games.
