Have Fun at Ponca State Park! Monday, July 10 9:00 —11:00 am Introduction to Archery and Shotguns —Introductory courses on archery and shotguns will be offered at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. All equipment is provided. Archery participants must be 5 years old and shotgun participants must be 12 years old. Meet and pay at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. Cost $1/6 arrows for archery; $7/box of shells for shotguns. 1:00 pm Camping Like Lewis & Clark — Discover how and where the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped, what they ate, tools they used, camp life, and the challenges they faced. Meet at the East Shelter House. Free. 3:00 pm Natural Plant Dyes — Have you ever wondered where dyes originated? The answer: plants! Plants provide all kinds of beautiful colors to our landscape and our lives. Learn to make your very own natural dyes from materials found outside. We will use seeds, flowers, roots, and more, to make natural dyes that you can use on fabric, or as paint. Meet at the Resource and Education Center. Please pre-register at the front desk. Limited to 20 people. Cost is $2/one cup of dye. Tuesday, July 11 9:00 am —11:00 am Introduction to Pellet Rifles — Join us for an introductory course on pellet rifles. Participants must be 8 years of age or older to participate. All equipment is provided. Meet and pay at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. Cost is $1/4 clips. 2:00 pm Out on the Prairie — Nebraska is home to many unique habitats. Come down to the river and explore the beauty of the prairie with a scavenger hunt, while learning about the flora and fauna of this habitat. Meet at the Riverfront (just past the playground, on the left side of the road). Free. Wednesday, July 12 9:00 —11:00 am Introduction to Archery and Beginning Muzzle-loading —Introductory courses on archery and muzzle-loading will be offered at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. All equipment is provided. Archery participants must be 5 years old and muzzleloader participants must be 12 years old. Meet and pay at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. Cost $1/6 arrows for archery; $1/2 shots for muzzleloader. 1:00 pm Soil Sampler — Ever wondered how plants are able to grow all over the world? Find out how and learn about different soils while making your own soil cup to grow your own beans. Meet at the Resource and Education Center. Please pre-register at the front desk. Limited to 25 people. Cost is $1/soil cup. 3:00 pm Feeding Frenzy— Have you ever wondered how a frog eats or how a snake can swallow a mouse larger than its head? Join a naturalist as we feed the educational animals in the Resource and Education Center. Be prepared to touch worms and crickets. Meet at the Resource and Education Center. Free.
