New York Hunter Education Course

Description

Students must pre-register for events held at this location. Please do not contact the club for information on the Hunter Education Classes. Only contact the names of the instructors provided. Class room is indoors. Range is outdoors. Dress appropriately for the range and outdoor portions of the class time. You may bring your own glasses/safety glasses and hearing protection. These will be evaluated to ensure they meet minimum safety standards. Special Instructions for All Students Homework MUST be completed prior to taking this field course. You can take it for free online, or pick up a book from your local DEC office or at the Club. Lunch will be available for under $5, water and soda for $1. Dress for the weather as we will be going outside rain or shine.

Hunter Education is required for all hunting licenses, including bowhunting. This course covers firearms safety, hunting techniques and responsible, ethical hunting practices.NOTE All courses require the completion of homework prior to attending the course. If you do not complete the homework you cannot complete the course. IMPORTANT MINIMUM AGE FOR COURSE: 11 YEARS (Minimum age for a license is 12 years).REQUIREMENT ALL STUDENTS UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE MUST bring a Permission Slip (PDF) (54 KB) signed by a parent or legal guardian.
