New York Hunter Education Course
Special Instructions for All Students: This is a 1 day course on July 29, 2017. Bring weather appropriate clothing for outdoor instruction. Do not bring firearms to class. Lunch, snacks, coffee and water will be available for a donation. You must be pre-registered for this class. Walk ins will not be permitted. A completed "Hunter Education Homework Worksheet" is required for admission. Required homework can be found for free: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/92267.html ** Click on the link Hunter Education Homework Worksheet to open document. ** Click on link Today's Hunter Manual to do homework. Homework and manuals are also available from any Regional DEC office for free. Online homework is also acceptable and can be accessed from https://www.hunter-ed.com/newyork/ (Fee: $15.00). If students do the homework online, they must print off the voucher and bring the voucher to the start of the class. If you cannot attend, please dis-enroll within 48 hours so your seat will be available to another student. The signed permission slip from a parent or legal guardian to allow for the handling and shooting of a firearm by anyone less than 16 years old will be collected. About New York Department of Environmental Conservation
Hunter Education is required for all hunting licenses, including bowhunting. This course covers firearms safety, hunting techniques and responsible, ethical hunting practices.NOTE All courses require the completion of homework prior to attending the course. If you do not complete the homework you cannot complete the course. IMPORTANT MINIMUM AGE FOR COURSE: 11 YEARS (Minimum age for a license is 12 years).REQUIREMENT ALL STUDENTS UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE MUST bring a Permission Slip (PDF) (54 KB) signed by a parent or legal guardian.
