New York Bowhunter Education Course
IMPORTANT! YOU MUST READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! Special information for Victory Church and instructions on how to download/attain Bowhunter Manuals and Worksheets for homework are below. A hard copy manual will be handed out on the 1st day of the class. Please bring a black/blue pen to class. You must arrive on time and attend BOTH class sessions. There are no vending machines at Victory Church. Please, bring capped containers or bottles for any drinks. If the weather is inclement or your work shoes are dirty please bring extra footwear. You will be required to take off your boots/shoes in the church entry. Bring a pair of comfortable shoes/slippers/socks to wear inside the church proper. Thursday’s session will require some time outdoors, making boots or outdoor shoes necessary aside from your comfortable indoor footwear. READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY. ALL NYS Sportsman Education classes require all students to complete homework before attending the in-person class. Bring proof of completed homework with you in order to be admitted into class. If it is not done or you forget to bring it with you, you will not be allowed into the class. You have 3 different options of doing the homework. Any of these ways will be acceptable to get into a class. Two of the ways are free and the online option will cost you $30. We recommend option #1. Choose one of the options below: 1. Online: “Today’s Bowhunter” may be downloaded and read online (PDF, 5mb), then print and complete the Bowhunter Education Homework Worksheet. (PDF, 235KB). (You do not need to print the PDF downloaded manual, one will be given to you in class.) You must bring the finished Worksheet with you to the class. The Manual and Homework Worksheet are available at www.bowhunter-ed.com/newyork/manual (Cost: Free) OR 2. Online: Take and complete the homework portion online at www.bowhunter-ed.com (Cost: $30) OR 3. On Paper: Obtain and Read the “Today’s Bowhunter” student manual and complete the Bowhunter Education Homework Worksheet. Please bring your manual to class. About New York Department of Environmental Conservation
Bowhunter Education is required to hunt ONLY deer and bear with bow and arrow. It is recommended for all other game. This course covers safety techniques and responsible, ethical hunting practices when pursuing game with a bow.NOTE All courses require the completion of homework prior to attending the course. If you do not complete the homework you cannot complete the course. IMPORTANT MINIMUM AGE FOR COURSE: 11 YEARS (Minimum age for a license is 12 years).
