Naturalist Program

Description
Visitors to Lake Minatare State Recreation Area will have the opportunity to learn more about nature during a program Saturday, June 25, at the park’s lighthouse. The naturalist program sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is a family-friendly event targeted to people of all ages and experiences. The event will start at 9 a.m. with a “birding adventure.” Not only will participants learn to identify birds by sight and sound, but they will build a birdhouse using paper plates. At 11 a.m. the topic will turn to water. Games, experiments and other activities will help visitors better understand the water cycle and its importance. The programs are open to the public free of charge but vehicles must have a Nebraska park entry permit. The permits are sold online at outdoornebraska.org, the recreation area’s office and other vendors throughout the state.
