Free Canoeing & Fishing Party

NORDC Outdoors loves to play outside, so we host a free canoeing and fishing party every Saturday!

Bring your charcoal grill, food, and non-alcoholic beverages (or just yourself) and we'll provide the music, games, lifeguards, and gear. Every Saturday from 10am-2pm. Find us at the lagoon behind the rec center. No experience or equipment required. No charge.

Learn basic paddling skills and safety instructions, then enjoy an easy self-guided tour of Joe W. Brown Park's lagoon and canal system. Canoes, paddles, and life jackets are all provided. Canoeing is free and open to ages 3 and up, no prior knowledge or experience required. Children under 10 must canoe with an adult.

Learn the basics of baiting, casting, and catching along the banks of the lagoon, then borrow equipment to try it on your own. All equipment is provided, including poles and lures. Fishing license required for anyone over age 15. Children under 10 must fish with an adult.

NOTE: All children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Anyone under age 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver to borrow equipment. This is an alcohol-free, family-friendly experience. All equipment is lent on a first-come, first-served basis; we ask patrons to be considerate of anyone waiting for equipment if demand is high.
